In May of 2016, City of Homes held a private listening party at Riverside Productions in Westfield, MA to celebrate our release of the new EP "What Life Remains". As a special gift to our closest friends, family, and fans, we played a short unplugged set featuring a couple of songs off of the new EP, and an unplugged rendition of our first single, "Departer" off of our debut 2014 EP. We had our dear friend Todd Rosever guest perform violin on the set. Our friends @ Riverside recorded the whole affair, and our friends @ Conclave Studios in New York, NY took the task of editing, mixing and mastering the tracks. We hope you enjoy this very special rendition of our first single.
lyrics
I lie awake in my / regret. These things I can’t forget / are etching in the walls;
Screaming my lament, and closing in on me this night.
The echoes of my heart; pounding agony, are filling up the room.
I’ll tear it out.
It’s killing me no more. It’s buried under mountains. So it goes; I’ll never love again.
What is life / with nothing to live for? What is life / circled by these walls;
screaming my lament, and closing in on me this night?
The echoes of my heart; pounding agony, are filling up the room.
I lie awake; there’ll be no rest for me. Not on this night, not on your life.
The etching in the walls / come crashing down. I’m leaving here, but I’ll be around.
What is life / with nothing to live for? What is life / circled by these walls;
screaming my lament, and closing in on me this night?
The echoes of my heart; pounding agony, are filling up the room.
I lie awake; there’ll be no rest for me. Not on this night, not on your life.
The etching in the walls / come crashing down; so I’m leaving here; I’ll be around.
I will be around. I will be around!
